Hidden beneath an old hedgerow
Cowered a wee brown baby sparrow
The dense green leaves of its cover
Dancing branches of light did hover
Life seemed fearful for the wee bird
Its lonely chirping could be heard
Soon an older bird flew down to see
The frightened sparrow it tired to flee
The tiny wee sparrow hopped around
As if it was looking for higher ground
Some branches opened with a breeze
The blue skies above the bird did tease
In an instant the sparrow took flight
Its freedom gained much to my delight
